Business Card Notebooks

November 5th, 2009 No comments

Anyone who is in the business of collecting business cards for networking chances, prospecting, or building a clientele can simplify their task immensely with the utilization of a business card scanner.

Below I provide a business card scanner review or business card scanner comparison. This is meant to supplement the other resources available on business card scanners review 09 but I am sure this will help you just as much.

These useful and extremely small devices quickly go through all those business cards that are gathered on a daily basis and neatly stores them electronically on your desktop computer, laptop or other portable computing device.

The data is stored as an identical digital replica of the business card you just collected; reducing the stacks of cards many business people find all over their works paces.

More advanced business card scanners will automatically identify the pertinent information on the card, such as name, address, phone number, e-mail address, fax, etc., and create an address book entry for you. This can save a lot of work time and help you stay organized when it comes to your contact lists. These useful contact management tools also take up a minimal amount of space. They are don’t weigh much and are small enough to easily fit in your laptop bag or briefcase.

most of them do not need an external power supply. They connect to your computing device with a USB cable, which sends all of the data and powers the device at the same time.

So whether you’re constantly collecting business cards and searching for a way to conveniently manage your contacts, or you have stacks of business cards you’d like to toss but don’t want to lose the data, a business card scanner may be a solutin for you.

AT&T U-Verse – An Alternative to Cable Television

November 5th, 2009 No comments

Perhaps you have grown weary of higher and higher cable bills. That wouldn’t be surprising, as statistics show that cable TV companies raise rates an average of 4% every year! One alternative is satellite TV, but a third choice available in many areas is AT&T Uverse.

U-verse is the brand name product of a new technology being rolled out by AT&T.Basically, it can give you all of the same services that your cable television company can offer. Not only will you get digital quality video service including quite a bit of HD content, but you can also subscribe to high speed internet and of course your home phone line as well.A few years back, cable TV companies began to offer triple-play bundles which offered all three services together. That seemed to wake up phone companies like Verizon and AT&T, both of which now offer these same triple-play bundles.

So do the AT&T Uverse reviews compare well with your cable TV company?

Some side-by-side comparison shopping would probably be in order if you are looking at AT&T’s service. Generally, if you are a new customer you can strike a pretty good deal, especially if you want all three services. One thing to consider is that U-verse is brand new in many areas, so some customers have reported bugs in the video service. While cable TV companies have been at it for decades, AT&T is new to the video game. Take some time to look at some of the Uverse reviews out there before jumping into the service.

Overall, At&T U-verse may fit your needs if you are looking for an affordable option to cable TV. The first step is to see if it is even available to you, as the deployment of the service is taking several years. If not, there is still the option of going with one of the satellite TV companies if you are looking to dump your cable television company.

How To Obtain Cheaper Mobile Calls

November 5th, 2009 No comments

Are you becoming frustrated at how much are you being asked to pay when making a mobile phone call? Would you like to obtain a lower mobile phone bill each month for the same usage? Would you like to be able to use your mobile phone abroad without it costing you the earth? Now I am not sure about you but until recently I would have answered all of these questions with a yes. I was not going to accept these crazy charges and have now managed to obtain mobile call rates which are at a much more reasonable level. It is now great to be able to make such cheap calls and to achieve such a large business cost cuttings.

Now I would like to make it clear that I am not attempting to sell you something here. I am by no way an expert in the field of offering cheaper communications; I am in fact a form of life coach who runs stammering therapy and how to increase confidence courses.

I suppose my whole frustration with the amount that I was being charged in conjunction with my mobile phone usage came about after I returned from Lanzarote last year. I had spent a couple of weeks over there on a family holiday in the resort of Playa Blanca. During the vacation I sent just four text messages and made three small phone calls to my family back home in the UK.

When the monthly mobile telephone bill arrived, three weeks after our return to the UK, I could not believe the amount they had charged me. I could not undertand it, I thought it just had to be an error. Below was the reply that I received from one of the customer services workers:

“These are our rates when phoning and texting from abroad”.

I then decided to start searching on the net for a company that could offer me a better deal. I went onto Google and after making a few searches I was able to obtain a much cheaper rate.

A Look at Future Phones

November 5th, 2009 1 comment

The mobile phone market is developing at super speeds, the market is an ever changing one that is worth billions of pounds. If we cast our minds back to over a decade ago, you will remember that phones did one specific thing and that was to call someone.

If you now think of the current day handset, you will acknowledge that you can literally do anything and everything on them, such as take pictures record videos and browse the net. So where can we actually see phones progressing in the next coming years? Let us take a quick look into this.

Phones are going to change their bodily structure and anatomy; I can see a lot of handsets in reality opening up and becoming full blown headsets with multimedia system functions. The new phones will not only have superb functions but they are also going to be tremendously bendy and flexible, so you can literally wear the phone like a watch.

Within a decade’s time we could anticipate desktop computers to be made redundant in offices and our monitors being powered by our brawny smart phone system which we can then use on the go. You will be able to purchase everything on the move on your phone even before visiting a shop.

Cell phones will no longer just be for calling a phone number, telephone numbers may not even exist within the next few years, just names and code digits of the person that you want to communicate with. There is no point even calling these things phones anymore, they will be so much more then that. They should literally be called an entertainment system because that is what they will be. They may even have small projectors on them that allow you to watch movies and stream TV on the go.

The Portable Media Player, The Ideal Companion

September 20th, 2009 No comments

A portable media player combines audio, images and videos. Most often these have the MP3 audio format. They may also support other audio formats as Advanced Audio Coding (AAC), WAV and the Windows Media Audio. The images are usually displayed using OLED or LCD screen. JPEG format is the most common although other file formats such as PNG, TIFF and GIF are also used to view images. Most of the portable media players support MPEG-4 video format. They may also be compatible with AVI and Windows Media Video (WMV) formats. Both audio and video transfers between the player and the computer are possible with most portable media players and portable digital assistants (PDAs) using USB cables.

Data is stored by these portable devices using hard drive, microdrive or flash memory. You can now store data using the flash memory based devices up to 32 GB. There has been a steady increase in the data storage capacity though it is lower. The hard drive portable devices have the maximum data storage capacity which goes up to 320 GB. External devices as the memory Sticks, CompactFlash and Secure Digital card can be used to increase the data storage capacity. This facility is available with a number of PDAs and media players. Screen size going up to 7 inches is now available. The resolutions are up to WVGA. They have a color depth ranging from 16-bit to 24-bit. Touchscreen is one of the latest in technologies that is increasingly being incorporated into these devices.

Digital audio players, digital video recorders, portable video players and personal digital assistants are now offered by many companies. The important portable media players in the market are Philips’ Philips Gogear SA6185 8GB , Apple’s iPod series, Scandisk’s Sansa Fuze and Sansa view, Sony’s Walkman series, Creative Labs with their Zen series and Samsung’s Samsung T10 and Samsung P2.

The functions of portable media player have been incorporated into a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) which is a handheld computer. Beginning with the simple digital diary in the 1980s it has evolved steadily to becoming what is now called as a palmtop computer. It incorporates the functions of the portable media player. Key functions of the computer have been added further. It is sleek and compact in the size of the palm which makes it extremely convenient to carry around. It acts as a media player, web browser and mobile phone. Wi-Fi or Wireless Wide-Area Networks enable many PDAs to access the Internet, intranet or extranets.

Why the 118 800 Number is Getting Everyone Scared

September 20th, 2009 No comments

For years we have had phone directories which you would be able to call up and they would give you the number of any business or service in the UK. It has been a very valuable service and one that people have been happy with for years, but people have been left shocked at the new announcement that a new service will be launching that actually puts you in touch with peoples mobile numbers.

The service called 118 800, has collected around 42 million tele phone numbers. The service will work the same way as traditional directories, but the numbers will not be given out to anyone, they will only be able to be put through to the folk.

But a huge amount of people of people have caused uproar and they believe there is still a huge amount of issues left. A huge amount of people will be on the database without them even realising it and they will be getting a vast amount of calls.

Could you even imagine if there were famous people in the directory, people would constantly be trying to get through to them on a daily basis. People can also opt for their mobiles to become ex directory, by either sending an SMS or calling a standard rate network.Even then it could take upto a month to get the changes updated.

There are a couple of ways in which the service works, first and foremost you can call the directory and ask to be put through to a specific person. The operator then talks to the person and asks whether it is ok to connect the call, or you have the option of trying to use the online site.

Mobile Directory Crashes

September 20th, 2009 No comments

The hugely hyped and worried about 118 800 failed to deliver as its service could not perform on the first day. Due to a technical problem, people could not be put through to the mobile number that they were trying to reach.

The service which has already stirred up a lot of anger and campaigners are once again complaining. The company are said to hold around 16 million numbers in the database which have been bought from list brokers who in turn buy personal details from market research firms and online stores.

I can assure you that most of these people will not even have a clue that they are on the directory, it goes against privacy in so many ways. If this does continue to happen then I can guarantee that a huge amount of people will be changing their numbers and not giving it out to anyone.

Folk already get so many spam calls and spam numbers calling them without being on a directory, I can actually see the increase in spam calls getting way too much.

The new directory could probably even effect service providers, as customers in some way believe that the numbers have been passed on by the actual network provider, so what people will begin to do is leave their current network provider and switch over to another one.

Who knows how long the system may last, but personally we could end up seeing it go down after a few months, as we all know what happens when the public become unhappy with a service. We already have various different MPs and campaigners that are literally trying to get the service closed down.

How Twitter is Revolutionising City Trading

September 20th, 2009 No comments

Ask any city trader, such as a hedge fund manager or invest banker and they will tell you that communication plays a massive role in their job. It is vital for them to have open channels of communication with others and be connected to the latest business information. This information tends to come from a great deal of sources, including mediums such as press releases, business statements, cable news channels and many more. There is however an ever-increasing demand for information to be supplied and received faster and more readily. The social media platform Twitter is now a tool that is being used by many traders to keep up with business knowledge according to the National Australia Bank (NAB).

Twitter, which is known as a micro-blogging site, allows users to update their profiles with posts of a maximum 160 characters. What this means is that posts have to be to the point and not include small talk, which according to Trevor Keen of the City Trading Union in NY “is exactly the kind of information traders want”. Users within a certain niche, such as the alpha wire sector, can follow other Twitter members who they want to receive updates from, and can themselves be followed. The financial sector operates in a global market these days and people need to be able to stay in touch with lots of different people who are in different countries and different time zones. This is made possible via Twitter, which allows various information and media outlets to communicate and feed off each other, often supplying information as it develops and without bias.

There have been some groups that have frowned upon the use of Twitter as they say it has potential to be a portal for insider trading as messages can be sent privately. Although supporters such as this cable ties business are quick to point out that this was always possible via email and the real power comes from the ability to alert hundreds of thousands of people publically, which of course can be monitored for underhanded dealings if necessary

Be Deliberate When Purchasing Your First Secondhand Ham Radio

September 20th, 2009 No comments

If you have it in your heart to start out in the ham radio hobby, then there are some matters you want to be aware of before you go out and purchase just any old secondhand ham radio. You are going to need to study up on the laws and licenses that are necessary to function ham radios in your state, because there are certain types of ham radios that might not be permissible to use and it would be a horrible thing to rush out and buy a radio that is not tolerated in your country just because of ignorance even if the cost was really good.

The next thing that you are going to want to study is determining what frequencies and radio wavelengths you are going to be able to access in your country and realm. There are several levels of admission for ham radio operators in all of the different areas of the world, so you want to make sure that the radio that you are looking at will fit into the parameters that you are admitted. It would be a true shame if you went out and bought a used ham radio that didn’t receive any frequencies of signals in your region, as this would simply make it an overpriced paperweight.

The last thing you are going to need to do is get in contact with your local ham radio club. Most of the local clubs will open their doors freely to newbies to the hobby, and it is normally pretty simple to find someone who will help you to understand the differences between the different secondhand ham radios for sale. These individuals can also give you guidance in the areas of the laws and frequencies that concern your area, which will make the undertaking of getting your secondhand ham radio a lot simpler.

If you are trying to find a radio on hand in one of your local stores, then you likely are going to have to search a little bit harder because in spite of the fact that more than 6 million individuals round the Earth are into the recreational radio hobby, you don’t commonly run into these devices. Most of the time your greatest shot at finding a ham radio for sale that will work in your area is inside your own realm because they are for sale from other people who have used them in the same frequency zone.

The frequency matter is going to be the hardest obstruction to get past, as most of your ham radios exclusive pickup distinct wavelengths and frequencies, and every region has their own sets that can be engaged upon. The same is true of nation types as well, so if you have an purpose of communing directly with individuals in a distinct country that is not your own you will have to do even more research before purchasing the first ham radio for sale that you come across.

In order to find a ham radio that really works the way that you visualize it to is to speak to your local ham radio club. Most people who are members of the local clubs for ham operators are highly masterful and educated and they can not only help you to find a ham radio for sale they can help you get the best fit for your needs. Chances are that in these clubs you will easily be able to find somebody who can mentor you through the action of getting prepared as well as have the oportunity to form long-term friendships with people of the same passion. Over time this will exponentially grow your skills as a ham radio operator.

GPS Tracking Handheld Systems

September 20th, 2009 No comments

used GPS for sale

There are many different types of auto navigation systems. Among the many you will find those that come factory installed, those that are attached to the interior of your automobile through the use of suction cups, and still others that are handheld devices which can simply be installed by attaching a cord to your cars cigarette lighter. These devices don’t offer quite the functionality and ease of use as some of the other (need I say pricier) types of navigational devices but you should not be fooled by features that you might not find all that useful in reality.

Being a bargain hunter is what I do. There really is nothing I can do to change my thrifty (some might say cheap) nature. I like having nice things but would like to get them while spending as little money in the process as possible. For this reason alone I decided to seriously consider some of the many handheld navigational tools on the market today.

There are a list of reasons why I consider these systems attractive. First of all, they suit many purposes. Not only are they useful when traveling by car (if you purchase the right software of course), they are also quite useful when taking your travels off road as well. You can use them four wheeling in the country, riding horses in wide open spaces, hiking in the hills and mountains, or when getting away by bike for the day. My personal favorite use for these nifty tools however is on the side roads. I’m a horrible navigator and a mapping GPS car tracking handheld is just the thing to keep me on track and on target.

I don’t know about you, but I hate feeling as though I am completely and utterly lost. It is a frightening feeling that is only intensified whenever there are children on board during those lost moments in time. Only someone who has ever experienced that feeling while looking into the eyes of her babies and feeling so alone on top of being so lost can really understand. There simply aren’t adequate words to describe the deep down inside fear that can take hold in situations such as this if allowed.

The best action to take is proactive. Avoid putting yourself in situations where you will feel lost. This of course, hasn’t always been possible in the past. Having a navigational device on hand at all times can go such a long way towards alleviating that fear and calming any qualms someone may have about the need to travel to unfamiliar places at time. Since we must occasionally stray from the world we know, love, and are familiar with it is great to know that there are devices to help us find our way in many situations.

If you are looking for a great gift to give almost anyone on your Christmas list this year, a nice handheld GPS tracking system with mapping capabilities is a great gift to give. A gift like this should not wait until the holiday season, especially if it’s someone whose safety is your number one concern. Females who travel alone will see benefit to these devices, wheather be it for driving, hiking, boating, or any other activity.

No matter what your specific needs in auto navigation systems may be, there are many systems that could suit them quite nicely. Take the time to study what is available and reconcile your needs with your budget in order to find the one that will work best for you. Handheld GPS systems with mapping abilities offer a highly affordable option along with some surprising extra features, which will make them attractive in and out of the automobile. Good luck in finding the perfect auto navigation system for you. It is out there someplace.
