    Nifty! I only have access to some newer ones – (+/-5 years ago) which don’t have that much gold in them compared to those old nokias.

    I scrapped two cell phones today (they had “gold” trim like the one in this video. When I tried to remove the trim, i noticed that it was gold under the green circuit board. So i roast the boards and crumbled the layers apart. they look copperish because of the torch but when i collected them in the crucible, this had a gold sheen to them. I will do a video response so you can see it. Are the layers i found gold or copper?

    @indeedltdoes

    How many gold has a single phone in it?

    @TheDrearskydiver

    I’m a bit reluctant to give away exact numbers, as different type of boards will yield different amounts, also, the methods used and the expiriance of the operator may change a great deal.
    two different individuals may get different results from the same feed stock.
    Theoretically, you are looking at anywhere from 0.1g – 0.5g per board…
    I simply can’t be specific. it’s a total crap shoot.

    Good luck.

    is it better to put the parts like processors and transistors through a grinder and then use chemical separation or is it better to just dissolve the boards and chips whole?

    @Shintoxable
    Hi

    Your question is too general to be answerd here.
    But I’ll point out that, it is most recommended to first seperate the different components from each other. You want to process homogenous lots of each components.
