I wanted one forever but i didnt get it til i was 13(7th grade), it was actually perfect timing, right before i went to a bigger school. I know someone who got one in 2nd grade and it was rather pointless. My mom got my nephews the little trac-phone things for like $20 for their 9th bday which is weird but they just call their mom when their playing down the street,my sister thinks its helpful. I would say 12-13. but i guess i kinda depends how society changes in the next 10 or so years…..

People are way too uptight. I don’t understand what the big deal is. If you raised your child correctly, they won’t abuse the privilege of having a phone. It’s as simple as that. I got my phone when I was 11. It was a good experience. Now my parents won’t get off my back about how often I text. I’m talking to my long distance girlfriend. You want to know what we’re talking about? How bad we want tacos!! We’re not sexting and crap. Jeez. Parents are so crazy xD

Wait, you think kids are “more responsible” at 10 or 11? Compared to WHAT.

I got mine when I was like 12, I think it’s good to give kids phones so they can call their parents but they don’t need texting until like high school

I didn’t get texting until I was like 15. I shared a phone with my brother to like call my mom and dad if we were out but that was it. Anymore texting and cellphones in kids is just all around dangerous. So many kids are now sexting and lets face it are you really going out with your friends that much at such a young age?

I got my first phone when I was in 6th grade so I was about 11 yrs old. All I was allowed to do was call people. My mom, dad, any other relative for obvious reasons like emergencies or after school I would call my mom to come pick me up or not. Then I got a new phone in jr high, again no texting or internet. Then I got a new phone my sophomore yr of high school and I was finally allowed to text. Then I got another phone July of 2011 and now I have internet, texting, all that crap. Lol.

10? 11? These people are crazy, I don’t think you should have a phone til you start junior high at least, so like 14! Even then it’s dangerous cuz these damn kids go overboard & sext & get themselves in trouble on what they w/their phones! So I say we just use telepathy to communicate w/each other lol

i got mine when i turned 12, and lets be honest, at 10 its not like were going out alone to the movies or anyplace, so i dont realy think anyone needs a phone at 10. unless you just like leave them alone.

@yellowlikesunshine42 but kids in middle school still go out without their parents…do you really expect an 8th grader to not go to the mall with some friends?

Why are there so many 12 year olds watching this video?

I got mine when I was 15 and that was only because my parents wanted me to have one when I started driving, which actually wasn’t till I turned 16. And it was only for calling. No texting or internet. And when I got a job at 16, my parents added texting and internet because I paid for it. And now I’m 20 and I have my own plan and I pay for all of it myself.
I don’t think anyone under 16 needs a phone. My little brother got one when he turned 13 and he doesn’t need it..

Can’t tell you how refreshing it is to see these women without that cow Lisa hanging around. That stringy haired bitch needs to get the hint; she isn’t a mom, and wouldn’t fit in if she was.
