Square Cell Phone Credit Card Reader FREE Android iPhone Mobile App Business

Square is an app and credit card reader so you can accept credit cards with your mobile phone. squareup.com I have a HTC Thunderbolt and I got this reader for free when I signed up. I haven’t used it yet and don’t know when I will but it’s free. This would be great if you were selling in flea markets and wanted to accept credit cards. I like how it accepts American Express because not many retailers take that card. They take a small percentage of the transaction but that’s the cost of doing business. katiepatton.com

I think you will use it at some point since you are a seller of merchandise.

I have it for flea markets. If you type in the card info instead of using the swipe it will charge you 3.15%. If you swipe the card it will only charge you 2.75%. You can enter the the percentage in as a tax and it will charge the customers card. Just make sure you tell the customer your adding the extra percentage.

Yeah it works for iPhone. I’ve heard people with iPhones get better customer service too.

There’s no credit check. There is an article about Square in the Jan 2012 issue of Entrepreneur.

I don’t think so, they asked me to confirm items from my credit report.

Thanks for your videos recommending searching Goodwill. I found a vintage Irish-made Carraig Donn 100% shetland wool sweater for $2 – one like it sold recently on ebay for $60! But… I think I like it too much to sell it. That’s always a risk, I guess. :)

very misleading and the only way to delete the account you create when you signed up for this is to send them an email and there is no number to call.

The gas station in my neighborhood uses one of these on an ipad at their register instead of a regular card scanner. I thought it was weird at first because I did have to sign with my finger, but it was a business so I went ahead and did it with no problems.

What about giving the customer some sort of receipt? I would want one if I was the buyer.
