Mythbusters – Cell Phones Vs. Drunk Driving – 3 of 3

October 20th, 2011 25 comments

No copyright infringement intended. This video is purely for safety education. This video is intended to show the dangers of cell phone use while driving. We use cell phones on a daily basis but not while driving. We had twin 17 year old girls killed by a cell phone user in 2002. Cell phone use and texting has only gotten worse since then. They cost lives every day. We have heard all the arguments so save your time. People do have other distractions but you will notice cell phone use is the absolute most common. Everybody sees it and frowns upon it but they do it anyway. If these videos save one life then it was all worth it.

Comparing “Smart” Meter RF Emissions to Cell Phones (Whole-Body Exposure)

September 9th, 2011 5 comments

(Info links follow.) Do you believe PG&E’s line that your cell phone emits radio-frequency microwave radiation 1000 times higher than a “smart” meter? I decided to test that out. What are the levels for whole-body exposure? PGE: pge.com Here is Dan Hirsch, UCSC lecturer, breaking down PG&E’s unsubstantiated claim and realigning the exposure numbers with reality: stopsmartmeters.org You probably won’t be surprised to find that PG&E’s claim doesn’t hold water. And never forget, you can turn your cell phone OFF—”smart” meters are 24/7. I am using a high frequency analyzer with two (2) attenuators on the antenna, so that I can read the super-high levels that “smart” meters emit. That changes the sensitivity from microwatts/square meter (µW/m2) to microwatts/square centimeter (µW/cm2), 10000x less sensitive than the device as shipped. Anonymous takes on BART over cell phone shut down

August 21st, 2011 23 comments

www.nma.tv In July, BART police shot dead a homeless man wielding a knife. Some questioned whether lethal force was warranted. To thwart a protest, BART officials temporarily shut down cell phone coverage in stations. The move attracted the ire of Anonymous. The hacker group broke into myBART.org and publicized personal info of BART users. An Anonymous protest also caused service disruption, but the group denied a second hack exposing BART cops’ personal info. No matter who wins the war between the two, it seems commuters will continue to be collateral damage.

Schmackdown! HTC Sensation vs T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

August 6th, 2011 25 comments

www.wirefly.com The HTC Sensation and T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide might look different, but they are closely related under the skin. Using identical processors, they also have the identical amount of memory and storage, and use the same version of the Android operating system. They also use the same overall version of HTC’s Sense user interface, although there’s a slightly different look on each phone. Where the two phones differ is in their physical characteristics, so Wirefly’s Bob Kovacs spends some time discussing those in this Wirefly Schmackdown.
